Call for Breakout Session Proposals

The North Carolina Career Development Association is pleased to announce the call for breakout session proposals for the annual conference to be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Elon University. NCCDA seeks proposals that:

  • Stimulate and provoke discussion and audience engagement for all constituent groups
  • Present content for professionals in all career development settings (e.g. counselor educators, government/public agencies/nonprofits, higher education, K-12, private practice, etc)
  • Explore an aspect of diversity, inclusion, empowerment, and/or equity and how these relate to career development or to the breaking of career barriers
  • Provide practical content and strategies that audience members can implement

Presenters with various levels of experience and at various organizational and institutional types, as well as presenters from a single institution or multiple institutions, will all be considered equally. Breakout sessions are 45 minutes in length. The proposal submission form is here ( | Proposal submission deadline has been extended to 11:59pm on Tuesday, September 11.

You do not have to be a member of NCCDA to submit a proposal.  All selected presenters will be required to register and pre-pay for the conference. If you have any questions, please contact Deanna Knighton at or 984-377-7898.

Need a little help getting to the conference? Graduate students and professionals are invited to apply for a conference scholarship! The NCCDA Scholarship funds your conference registration and matches you with a mentor to support your professional development. Apply by sending your resume and a cover letter describing both your career goals and what you’re looking for in a mentor to Katie Peterssen at by 5pm on September 21st.
