Letter Emailed to NCCA Members
Dear NCCA Community:
What strange and unprecedented times we are experiencing. I hope all of you and your families are healthy and well. I will refrain from sending a long and complex message full of links and facts about COVID-19, as I am sure you have received your share of these. Instead, I wanted to share that the Governing Council of NCCA is thinking of all of you and your clients and students at this time. I also want to let you know about a helpful training opportunity developed exclusively for our NCCA members that may help you continue to provide quality services during this time.
As we all try and figure out how to traverse this unique situation, NCCA wants to send thanks to all of the counselors in North Carolina and across the country who are continuing to work with clients and students in a variety of ways. We have heard stories of incredible ingenuity and creativity to make sure folks who need services are receiving them. It is a testament to the dedication and passion of professionals in our field.
To assist in providing you with the most tools possible, NCCA will be sponsoring a free online training for members on Friday, March 27 from 12:00pm-2:00pm titled “Telemental Health Counseling : A Crash Course”. The training, conducted by Drs. Dominique Hammonds and Christina Rosen, counselor education faculty at Appalachian State University, will be conducted via Zoom technology and a link will be sent to all of those that register. Follow this link for a letter from Dr. Hammonds, a Board-Certified Telemental Health Provider and current President Elect-Elect of NCCA, regarding the value that telemental health may provide in a time like now.
A link for NCCA members to register for the training may be found in the email sent to members on March 18, 2020. This course is available to NCCA members only. If you did not receive the email, please contact the NCCA office at email@example.com to request the link. Registration is open through Thursday, March 26 at 5:00 pm. A Zoom link will be sent to those who registered by the Friday morning of the training.
Again, I hope you will take advantage of the training and find it helpful in your work. In the meantime, please let NCCA know of any way that we can be of help to you in this trying time.
President, North Carolina Counseling Association.
