Seeking Study Participants

Dear Colleague:

We are writing to you today because we are seeking participants for a study investigating counselors’ perspectives and beliefs about social class. The goal of this study is to inform the counseling profession about how counselors understand social class so training implications can be defined. To date, little is known about how counselors understand social class, and your participation will help us understand what counselors know and what information they may need to gain in order to best serve clients.

Participant Inclusion Criteria:

  1. Participants must have completed a master’s level training program that qualifies them to counsel clients.
  2. Participants must be employed currently in a counseling related job.
  3. Participants must be employed in the United States.
  4. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.

Please note: Participants will be asked to provide demographic information, yet will not be eliminated based on any demographic factors (e.g. race, ethnicity, gender, ability status, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, etc.)

The survey should take no more than 25 minutes to complete and can be accessed via this link: On the home page, the full informed consent is listed. Your participation is completely voluntary.

Any responses you give will be anonymous. When you complete the survey, you will be invited to click on a link separate from the survey if you would like to be entered into a raffle to win 1 of 24 available, $25 gift cards. Participation in the raffle is optional, and only participants who complete the survey are eligible to enter the raffle. To be entered in the raffle, you must provide your name and email address. Raffle winners will be drawn at random, and winners may select an Amazon, Starbucks, or Target gift card. Gift cards will be emailed to winners.

This research study is approved by Marquette University Institutional Review Board (IRB), IRB #HR-3277.

We look forward to hearing from you.
